More Eva Pics!

Permalink 03/19/09 09:16, by Steph Shangraw, Categories: Eva

We’ve made a slight shift to Eva’s schedule. Feedings every two hours meant that she wasn’t getting enough milk to satisfy her each time, and we were having to wake her up after less than 90 minutes of sleep at a time. We’ve gone to every three hours. She gets the same total amount of milk per day, but she gets enough that she settles down to sleep with her plushies pretty quickly instead of yelling for a few minutes first. Each feeding takes longer, so she still gets lots of cuddle time. It also means I can get a little more sleep, and Sean gets a little more time to take care of other things.

The older cats are all convinced that Eva is some sort of small alien of uncertain intentions, I think. ;)

Otherwise, all’s well. Sean or I will post her weight later on, since we’ll be weighing her daily at about the same time. Meanwhile, here are a few pics from Sean feeding Eva last night.

Thank you to everyone who comments here and elsewhere and has sent love and hugs and energy! I’m sorry we just don’t have the time and energy to reply, but we’re reading every one of them, and it feels wonderful to share this — good and sad — with all of you!

Follow up:

The lives of various fostered kittens and cats: Eva, born March 15 and abandoned the next day; Cory, orphaned at two weeks in mid-April and rejected by a foster-momcat April 17; Kate, Ryu, Zephyr, and Aurora, who were surrendered as "strays" on June 22 at roughly 4 weeks old; the "Sneezies", 6 3-month-old kittens who developed a respiratory infection; Beauty, Belinda, and Benny, a brave momcat and her two kittens; Tiggs, a very young mom.

Eva has gone to her forever home, and her family will continue to give us updates here. Cory is staying permanently with us. Kate, Zephyr, Ryu, and Aurora were all quickly adopted. Gambit and Stella have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but Boomer, Archie, the black twins, and Beauty have all been adopted; Benny was, I believe, adopted by his other foster family

Please support your local shelter and rescue organizations so they can continue rescuing babies (just like these ones!) and adult animals who need assistance! Many shelters are in need of donations of supplies (ask for a wish list) and time (at a wide range of jobs) just as much as financial help. Rescue organizations have a wide variety of things they can use help with, contact yours and ask.
If you're looking for a pet, please adopt one that needs you!
