Badly Overdue Cory Update

Permalink 06/02/09 21:48, by Steph Shangraw, Categories: Cory

Apologies for the long delay... what with a new semester in college, the change of not having Eva in the household anymore, Sean's health being up and down, and trying to expand this site (go to http://prysmcat.org if you haven't been there yet ;) and make sure you check out Samson's blog for a puppy's story!) it's been a bit hectic. Plus we lost the card that goes in the camera for a bit!

However, now everything's reassembled and I MADE some time!

Cory's doing well, overall. His vision and coordination are improving -- we've been encouraging him to play games that involve paw-eye coordination, which could be helping. It's hard to say what's going on, but if he's doing okay, I'm not that concerned about the details, really! He's not even getting as much wet food on his face when he eats anymore.

My only concern is that he's sneezing a bit more often, and a couple of days ago had a significant discharge from his nose. However, it's been rather damp and cool, and I've been sniffling too, so I'm not going to panic just yet. Cats can have allergies too, and Ceiling Cat knows, my apartment isn't a model of housekeeping (who has time???). But I'm going to be watching him closely.

He's had his first set of shots and his first deworming, which certainly made a difference in that round belly. Next set is in a little over a week. He currently weighs 2 pounds, 6.3 ounces.

I have a few pics I need to resize before posting, and I do have to spend some time tonight studying for a test in the morning. Sean is uploading a 5-minute video of Cory playing earlier this evening, and
I'll post that as soon as I can. For the moment, though:
These two are actually from May 25th -- they got uploaded to YouTube but somehow, I never got as far as a blog post!

Part 1

Part 2

The lives of various fostered kittens and cats: Eva, born March 15 and abandoned the next day; Cory, orphaned at two weeks in mid-April and rejected by a foster-momcat April 17; Kate, Ryu, Zephyr, and Aurora, who were surrendered as "strays" on June 22 at roughly 4 weeks old; the "Sneezies", 6 3-month-old kittens who developed a respiratory infection; Beauty, Belinda, and Benny, a brave momcat and her two kittens; Tiggs, a very young mom.

Eva has gone to her forever home, and her family will continue to give us updates here. Cory is staying permanently with us. Kate, Zephyr, Ryu, and Aurora were all quickly adopted. Gambit and Stella have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but Boomer, Archie, the black twins, and Beauty have all been adopted; Benny was, I believe, adopted by his other foster family

Please support your local shelter and rescue organizations so they can continue rescuing babies (just like these ones!) and adult animals who need assistance! Many shelters are in need of donations of supplies (ask for a wish list) and time (at a wide range of jobs) just as much as financial help. Rescue organizations have a wide variety of things they can use help with, contact yours and ask.
If you're looking for a pet, please adopt one that needs you!
