Teeth, Biting and Chewing
by bom_momme
Puppies, like babies, put any and all things in their mouths. The only problem is that puppies have teeth and will chew through anything. In the first 24 hours after joining our family, Samson had chewed through the power cord on my laptop and the power and AV cables for my husband's Play Station. He has eaten kleenex, assorted papers, and the ever favorite "cat poop".
Vigilance is the only answer I have been able to find with my research. Although it is very tiring, it pays to follow your puppy around until you find where they have chosen to set up they "den". All dogs want a den, someplace that is theirs alone.
Samson has two places he goes to, in front of the back window and the other is when our Barney would go. The second place is behind our love seat where the air conditioner vent is. It is probably the coolest place in the house, and for a heavy coated dog like Samson it will be shear heaven in the summertime.
The most important thing is DO NOT EVER LET YOUR DOG PUT HIS TEETH ON ANY PERSON this is a dominance thing. Any dominance issue must be dealt with quickly and without any hesitation. I will deal with this issue more later.
