Oh no! These were uploaded to YouTube over a week ago, and shared on Facebook, but didn’t get posted here!!!
The kittens, having had some diarrhea and no comprehension of the litter box, needed to get cleaned up a bit.

The Silver Cuddle Puddle – Ryu, Kate, Zephyr, and Aurora – are on the loose, in our messy and cluttered apartment! Cory’s having the time of his life, and the big kitties are fleeing in terror!
For the record, the SCP have been here for just about two weeks now, and have shown no sign of illness. They’re pretty much guaranteed to have worms, and granted they could be carrying something that isn’t showing — but it’s a balance because they need to learn more about socialization than they’re going to get locked in the back bedroom alone except for my spending an hour or two a day with them. We’ve had them in the living room just on the couch a couple of evenings, but they’re getting too active to settle for that. So they’ll now be getting some supervised time loose in the apartment.
They’ve mastered the litter box — no mistakes since Thursday, and not many for a couple of days before that.
I’m very proud of them for how far they’ve come with weaning. They all know how to eat wet food (with a little kitten milk replacer powder mixed in) now. However, the bottle is still a huge comfort/intimacy thing for them, one they’re clearly reluctant to give up. If I cuddle a baby against my chest and hold the dish of canned food in the other hand, they’ll eat it happily — presumably because of the contact. I’m being cautious about removing the bottle entirely too quickly, since I don’t want to cause long-term psychological issues, so I’m reducing the amount and frequency, and watering it down more.
They’ all have very loving and cuddly personalities, and love falling asleep in contact with us or on top of us. Kate (red collar) is the most quiet and polite and patient, willing to wait her turn but enthusiastic when she gets it, purring vibrantly when she’s being held. Aurora (green collar) is thoughtful, and was the first to use the litter box AND the first to eat the wet food. Zephyr (blue collar) is the smallest, and can be highly assertive about demanding her turn or the attention she wants, but once she gets it, she’s sweet and cuddly. Ryu, the one male, who is currently not wearing his yellow collar, loves to explore and play.
They’ll all need forever homes in 3 to 4 weeks, after their second set of vaccinations, through the Kingston Humane Society.

We’ve discovered that they aren’t at all sure what to do with food or litter, although they’re certainly nursing from a bottle with excellent appetite! They’re stronger and more active and inquisitive almost by the hour.
Every time I feel guilty leaving them alone, I remind myself, they have a whole room, not a cage.
They now have names, and to make it simpler to tell who is who, I made them coloured collars. Don’t panic — they can’t tighten, and they’ll slide over heads or simply come loose under much pressure, but they’re heavy enough to be hard to swallow.
So, you’ll see:

dark boy Ryu (“dragon spirit”, in yellow
silver girl Aurora (the dawn goddess, or the borealis/australis), in green
silver girl Zephyr (the smallest, the gentle west wind), in blue
We’re keeping them strictly separated from our own quartet. The newbies LOOK healthy, but that doesn’t mean they are. At the very least, they’re guaranteed to have worms. But ours are aware of them, and Cory may be a little jealous, so we’re making extra time for him.

Health Check:
Weight: ranges from 10.6 ounces to 11.3 ounces
Bowels, urination, appetite: all positive
Bright, Alert Responsive: yes
Eyes: blue, cornea has no visible damage, no visible cloudiness, all appear able to track to varying degrees, pupils appear to be reactive, no significant discharge
Nose: no significant discharge, no visible abnormalities
Mouth: teething; incisors are in, canines and molars are erupting, mucous membranes pale pink, cap refill time almost instantaneous, no visible ulceration or other abnormality
Ears: no indication of ear mites, clean, intact pinna
Lymph nodes: not readily palpable
Heart: no stethoscope, and they’re a tad squirmy to get a femoral pulse
Respiration: regular, not fast or shallow, not forced, occasional brief open-mouthed breathing possibly due to heat/humidity and/or stress
Abdomen: rounded, squishy-feeling, no palpable masses, no apparent discomfort
Hips and legs: strength improving rapidly, no visible abnormality
Temperature: not assessed, no thermometer
Coat: dense, soft, shiny, no dry skin/flakiness, no indication of any external parasites
Body condition: 3/5 – excellent
Other notes: high appetite, not weaned, not litter trained; stressed at first, relaxing now
So. I don’t even have time and energy lately to keep up with posting Cory pics and videos. What do I do?
I bring home 4 new foster kittens, of course. Yes, four. They were dropped off at the Humane Society as “strays”. Strays that understand food bowls and are accustomed to being handled… draw your own conclusions. They’re approximately 4 weeks old, and I’m still trying to determine exactly how weaned (or not) they are — they do nibble Royal Canin Babycat kibble, but three of four also suckled on a bottle of KMR quite eagerly, and they haven’t eaten much kibble.
They’re also very beautiful. Two are silver tabbies, both girls. Two are dark graphite-gray tabbies. When they’re all together, the colours flow into each other and you could never doubt they’re littermates.
