Trick and the Dental Surgery Saga

Okay, so… shortly before Catmus, I took all three cats in for overdue vaccinations (it had been about 4 years) – mainly rabies, which is required by law annually here, but I did go along with a FVRCP booster even though I’m unconvinced that it’s necessary after initial shots and there ARE risks. Partly because we’re hoping it will help with Cory’s calicivirus attacks. I probably won’t get Trick vaccinated any more, though. But anyway… The vet, of course, gave them a check-up. Verified that Trick’s odd lumps are harmless fatty lipomas. Noted that the odd little horny growth on…

Random pic of Trick’s tummy

Just because. Under a 60-watt bulb, on crinkly wrapping-tissue paper, with a honeysuckle-catnip toy down by his hip… this was how Trick spent Catmus Eve. And just as a bonus, Trick in a box in a box, a few days before…

Warm kitties!

A couple of fairly random pics I just took… Freya loves that leopard thing. It’s a piece of decent-quality fleece the size of a blanket that I picked up for a couple of dollars at a local thrift store, in among the leftover fabrics. She sleeps on it at every opportunity, and when she isn’t, Cory is… although it isn’t quite such good camo for Cory!

Trick Vs The Tail

Wow, I got so busy with writing projects and kitty toys and computer problems and Cheezland and with my new major project for SNKI (you can see it here: http://snkitails.wordpress.com/ ) that I haven’t had a chance to get back to finishing the repair work on THIS blog. (My Categories are no longer nested, I see, among other things. *sigh* ) However, for your amusement, here’s my insane Trick and his arch-enemy: his own tail. Trick’s greatest foe, for the ten years or so he’s been living with us, has always been that black snakey thing. It follows him everywhere, always…

New balcony enclosure

Because it’s very easy for cats to get badly hurt by spending unsupervised time on a balcony, and because my purrkids really REALLY like being on the balcony, one of the first things we did when we moved in was devise an enclosure that would keep them safe. The landlord objected to the full-height full-balcony one, so we’ve gone through a couple of versions that were lower than the balcony railing. That way, through the summer when it’s hot, we can just leave a couple of low windows open and the cats can wander in and out at will, enjoying…

Cory the marsupial bear

So. Angel having crossed the Bridge on Monday (you can see her whole story, with the ending, on this page), we’re all grieving and all having some serious adjustments to make. Trick and Freya are both demanding a bit more attention than normal but are largely okay. Cory, however, is having more trouble. For as long as I can remember, he’s only been willing to cuddle in the bathroom – it might be connected to his repeated sinus issues, my sitting with him and the steam helping, I don’t know – and he summons me there with kitten-cries when he’s…

Trick, Gardening

As usual, way behind on updates… Angel’s diabetes, Cory’s allergies kicking back up, the kids alternately sulking about the recurrent wet cold weather and enjoying the sun, the really sweet male black Great Dane/boxer puppy who lives near me and reminds me of the black Dane female I grew up with, life in general. There’s a bunch of pics and a couple of videos still to get posted, too. However, here’s what happened when I tried growing some grass for the purrkids to chew on. Plz note: earlier version of video on YouTube corrupted somehow, no longer playing 3:46 but…

Kitteh Present

Thanks to the gift of an awsum Cheezpeep, who informed us that we were to spend it on something fun, our purrkids got something special to help with their increasing cabin fever. It’s 66 inches high, so taller than either of the older ones; it’s sturdier than the one that we had to assemble ourselves, too. Trick was on it before I even finished getting it into place; Cory took to it no problem at all. Freya’s a little unsure about it, and Angel really never was much of a climber or jumper, even less so these days. As I…

Three Kitty Videos

Wow… I’ve spent so much of this year fighting with depression meds, and the good part so busy with Cheezland, that I’m waaaaaay behind on kitty pics and videos!!! I’ll be working on them over the next little while. Cory is three and a half years old… but Angel is still his (adopted) momcat, obviously! He was completely blissed-out by the time I got this video. New mattress!

My dad called me Friday night to see if they could stop by on Saturday because they were going to be in town. Sure, no problem. What I wasn’t expecting was that they had a surprise. I’ve had an antique 3/4 bed, halfway between a single and a double, for as long as I can remember – since I was a kid, anyway. My mom put a huge amount of work into sanding and repainting it. I’m extremely attached to it, and it seems to be the only place I can really sleep properly. It’s soft (no box spring), and…
